Sapporo, Japan

In early February we took a trip to Sapporo, Japan for the Snow and Ice Festival. It was a bit chilly but worth the tour of snow and ice sculptures. Tradition of the festival started back in the 50's, when bored college students made several snow sculptures in Odori Park. For several years now, the first two weeks of February Sapporo shuts down this park and makes these elaborate sculptures. Plus, there is a lot of great food! Everything from ramen, doughnuts, frozen chocolate bananas, kabobs, fish, etc. The sushi was great, since we were located in a seafood city. Kaiya was appalled that anyone would eat her dear friend Crabbie.
